Our Vision: To build a thriving and connected African film ecosystem that empowers storytellers, markets, and audiences.

MISSION To unify and empower film producers by developing sustainable systems for production, distribution, policy advocacy, and market access, while nurturing emerging talent and promoting African storytelling locally, regionally, and globally.

Pearlwood is the trademark of Uganda’s growing and dynamic film industry, serving as both an umbrella organization for filmmakers and a consortium of national film guilds. It brings together creative professionals from across the filmmaking ecosystem to foster collaboration, innovation, and industry-wide growth.

As a unifying body, Pearlwood provides a platform where filmmakers—producers, actors, writers, and other industry stakeholders—can work together to strengthen Uganda’s position in the regional and global film landscape.

The guilds include, but are not limited to:

  • Actors Guild

Each guild plays a critical role in shaping the industry and contributes to Pearlwood’s collective vision.

The leadership structure ensures transparency, inclusivity, and alignment with the needs of the creative community.

Pearlwood is led by a team of experienced industry professionals drawn from its member guilds. This leadership team is responsible for guiding the organization’s strategic direction, coordinating its activities, and representing the interests of the film industry at national and international levels.
